At Pet Sitting Plus, we have many years of looking after and loving animals. From a very early age, I remember pestering my mum and dad for hours on end to get a dog! They eventually relented and we got a Miniature Schnauzer called Sparkie. He lived for a good number of years and I took great pride in looking after him. I also learnt very quickly, when he became poorly in his latter days, how pets truly become a member of your family.
I also bred and showed rabbits (Castor Rex for those of you in the know!) all over the north of England. I remember helping my dad build numerous hutches out of packing crates, which must have been the sturdiest and biggest rabbit hutches ever made. I remember even that many years ago, sitting in the freezing cold, with a paraffin heater as close as I dare put it, eagerly awaiting a new litter being born or just plain cuddling and grooming!
As soon as I possibly could, when I had my own house, I rescued a little terrier called Max who had been dumped on our local police station’s doorstep at three months old. He was the sweetest puppy, who became well known in our village, sitting on the huge window ledge whenever he could, watching the world go by. He is now nearly thirteen and his mind is still in thirteen week mode, acting like a typical terrier whenever he can!
We also have a border collie called Molly who is the most loyal and loving dog I know. She loves nothing more than to cuddle in your arms as she did when she was a puppy. Unfortunately for her, she has had many bouts of mystery high temperatures and she has been to Liverpool Small Animal Hospital twice, where they have tried to find out what was wrong with her. It has given me a good grounding in caring for sick animals as she does it so well!
We also have a little Shetland pony, 2 horses, one of whom I show, and a goat that is such a character, thinking he is a dog, pony and goat all rolled into one.
The top and bottom of our household is that it is totally and utterly dedicated to the quality care of animals.
